Meeting – Special Program:
Thursday, January 11, 2007
Discover new rose varieties, quiz the rose experts and take home a free bare-root rose for your garden!
With a rose parade and Rose Bowl kicking off our Southern California new year every January 1, it’s only natural that our Society’s January meeting immerse you completely in roses.
Our extraordinary rose-related program opens with a slide presentation on new roses by Tom Carruth of Weeks Roses. A Question and Answer panel of expert rosarians will follow to answer your rose-related questions.
Our remarkable rose panel members are:

- Keith Zary is the highly respected vice president of research for Jackson and Perkins Roses. ‘Honey Perfume,’ Tahitian Sunset,’ and ‘Moondance’ are a few of Dr. Zary’s award-winning hybrids.
- Jacob Maarse is founder of legendary Jacob Maarse Florists in Pasadena and Los Angeles. Mr. Maarse (now retired) and his wife, Clara, grow three acres of roses at their Sierra Madre home. The roses are cut and sold at the family’s flower shops.
