Program:
The Reimagined Shed: Designing the Ultimate Garden Hideaway, Haven or Sanctuary
Create a backyard getaway in a few hundred square feet or less with tips from garden and design writer Debra Prinzing. Debra shared her stories and design tips for turning an ordinary shed into a dream destination, for gardening or any other personal passion. We enjoyed a peek into some of the country’s most stylish and innovative examples of diminutive architecture, photographed by William Wright, with whom Debra collaborated on Stylish Sheds and Elegant Hideaways. Copies of this book were available for purchase and a book signing followed the lecture.
Debra Prinzing is drawn to the intersection of architecture and horticulture. As an observer and a writer, she watches and interprets how human beings interact with their built environment, and in the larger context, with nature.
An undergraduate degree in textiles and fashion developed Debra’s artistic sense. Graduate-level work in communications, horticultural studies and more than two decades in newspaper and magazine journalism have shaped her perspective as a writer enabling her to communicate with a wide audience. She is the author of The Abundant Garden (Cool Springs Press), Washington & Oregon Gardener’s Guide with co-author Mary Robson (Cool Springs Press), Pacific Northwest Garden Survival Guide (Fulcrum Publishing) and Northwest Gardener’s Resource Directory 9thed.(Sasquatch Books).
Recently relocated to the Southland, Debra lives, writes and gardens in Thousand Oaks, California.
