Meeting:
June 10, 2010
Guest Presenter:
Marcia Donahue
Program:
Planting Sculpture, Sculpting Plants
A presentation by sculptor and gardener, Marcia Donahue.
Ms. Donahue illustrated the art of gardening as she has practiced it in her Berkeley, California garden and in others for the past 30 years. She talked about creating garden sculptures from stone, wood and clay and placing them in gardens so it looks as if they grew there. Marcia believes that the garden itself is a sculpture full of meaning for its owner and guests.
Marcia Donahue has lived in California for most of her life. She has tended her Berkeley garden for the past 32 years and has done sculptural work for many gardens, both public and private. Ms. Donahue loves plants and her work is largely inspired by them. Her Berkeley garden is open to the public Sunday afternoons and for the Garden Conservancy Open Days Program (gardenconservancy.org)
