Meeting:
April 14, 2011
Guest Presenter:
Jeffrey Bale
Program:
The Pleasure Garden

Jeffrey Bale grew up in Eugene, Oregon and has a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Oregon. He has been an inveterate traveler for the last 27 years, including lengthy journeys to Mexico, Thailand, S.E. Asia, Sri Lanka, the Nepali Himalaya, India, South America and the Mediterranean. When at home, he builds gardens that are strongly influenced by his travels, during which he documents beautiful things with an eye for how they were made and why. He finds a story behind every design, and what inspires him most is when art works in harmony with nature.
Jeffrey’s passion is creating sustainable gardens that bring pleasure, combining art (he has become known for his pebble mosaics) and plants. During his talk, he presented examples of some of the loveliest paradise gardens he has encountered around the world, and his interpretations of why they work. He also showed how to incorporate these ideas into your own garden so that it can become more of a divine sanctuary for you to enjoy and love.
