Join us on Saturday May 30th for a refreshed and relaxed Southern California Horticultural Tour!
Although our original bus tour had to be canceled due to several unforeseen factors, we are excited to offer a new format that may be even more enjoyable: a self-drive adventure with three wonderful stops throughout the day.
Tour Stops
Stop No. 1: Historic Rancho Los Alamitos Private Docent-Led Garden Tour
Hosted exclusively for SoCal Hort members and guests
- Tour begins promptly at 10:00 AM — through 11:30 AM
- A boxed lunch will be provided to enjoy picnic-style on the beautiful grounds after the tour, lunch included in the ticket price!
Stop No. 2: Ricardo’s Nursery, | 1:00 PM
Experience the extraordinary nursery of renowned Oaxacan-born horticulturist Ricardo, celebrated for his rare fruit trees, shrubs, and exceptional low-water plants, including CA natives.
Guests will also enjoy tastings of Ricardo’s delicious homegrown cherimoya and Vanilla Ice Cream Bean fruit!
Stop No. 3: 2:30–4:00 PM | Private Tour & Reception
Our final stop features a special private tour and relaxing afternoon gathering at the home and garden of Robert Waters and Cat Pannell in Downey, featured in several nature articles magazines.
Cat, a longtime SoCal Hort member, has kindly opened the garden for this special event, and afternoon refreshments will be served.
